Bright Side

by Kim Holden

Secrets.
Everyone has one.
Some are bigger than others.
And when secrets are revealed,
Some will heal you ...
And some will end you.

Kate Sedgwick’s life has been anything but typical. She’s endured hardship and tragedy, but throughout it all she remains happy and optimistic (there’s a reason her best friend Gus calls her Bright Side). Kate is strong-willed, funny, smart, and musically gifted. She’s also never believed in love. So when Kate leaves San Diego to attend college in the small town of Grant, Minnesota, the last thing she expects is to fall in love with Keller Banks.

They both feel it.
But they each have a reason to fight it.
They each have a secret.

And when secrets are revealed,
Some will heal you …
And some will end you.

Author Appreciation

(From Kim)

Some of my favorite things: reading, writing, the two coolest guys on the planet (my husband and son), my bicycle (my husband built it for me), Facebook (I'm fairly certain it's an addiction at this point), iced coffee (hazelnut), and music (LOVE Sunset Sons, the 1975, Dredg, the xx, Balance and Composure, Teenage Bottlerocket, and 30 Seconds to Mars). I also love dreaming, which brings me to my next point. I have one bit of advice for anyone reading this ... follow your dreams. It's never too late. Get started today ... heck get started RIGHT NOW! I wanted to write a book 20 years ago. Instead I waited. And waited. I should've been writing. But I didn't. I don't do regrets, because the past is just that, the past. But let me tell you there's nothing in the world like achieving something you've dreamt about for years and years. So, get started. Make your dreams reality.
I love to hear from other readers. Send me a message or find me on Facebook (https://facebook.com/kimholdenauthor) and tell what's up in your reading world.

***MY THOUGHTS***

Ok... I will preface these thoughts by stating that I am writing this immediately after reading this book. So, my thoughts are going to be a bit more extensive than I have written for other books.

Firstly, let me just state to Ms. Holden (not that she will ever read this, so I think I'm safe...) that if you are going to title a book “BRIGHT SIDE”.... Then it should be fucking happy! That's it for the rant. And I don't even mean that statement. I am only saying it because by my body and soul are still being wracked by the brutal onslaught of the feels that were hurled at me throughout this book.

I love the word “wracked” and it is the most appropriate to express my feelings..

WRACK (noun):

1. Ruin, destruction.

2. ***A REMNANT OF SOMETHING DESTROYED.***

And that is how I feel. A piece of my soul is now just a remnant of something destroyed.

The depth of my emotion is expressed in a montage of gif's below. Followed immediately by my fan cast.

The story of Bright Side is a well-written, excruciatingly sad, yet heartwarming love story. You will love the heroine. You will fall for both of the heroes. You. Will. Cry. (If not, maybe you should speak to a professional about your complete lack of a heart and absolute inability to empathize or imagine...there may be no hope for you.)

I am not a person that enjoys reading tear-jerkers on a regular basis. In fact, I generally avoid them altogether; unless I'm in the mood for a good cry. With that being said, DO NOT PASS UP BRIGHT SIDE. I am very glad that the blurb about this book misled me into thinking it was a run-of-the-mill quick read.

It's a good one.
